I have never seen one of these in person so I don't know what happens when you go to cut it. Does the chocolate shatter all over into pieces or are you able to cut/slice through it?

You warm a sharp knife under hot water, dry and cut through the chocolate wrap. Some of it will shatter but it can just be served alongside the cake slice.
