Has anyone had good luck making cakes for school carnivals and actually getting business afterwards? I am making 4 or 5 cakes with my card of course and I am giving a Gift Certificate for the silent auction. I guess it won't hurt to try, but wondered if anyone else has had good results???

Not a school carnival but I have donated a cake for a parent teacher night sort of thing. I guess all the parents are supposed to bring something to eat. One of my clients asked me if I would be willing to donate one for her to bring. I put it in a box with one of my cake box stickers on it and a card tapped to the front. I got one client out of that.

I donate each year to the silent auction at the preschool and to the basket at the public school. i have had great success with that. I think the more you get you name out there the better. Try to put a pretty bow on it or soemthign to grab extra attention.

Good luck,

Julia

We donate a lot for school functions but our biggest result was for a dance team fundraiser. They had a cake auction and we had about six cakes there. Not all donated some purchased and doanted by parents. But we had one that we call a chocolate explosion cake. It is a kahlua chocolate fudge cake iced with chocolate buttercream drizzled with chocoalte ganache and topped with c buttercream rosettes and has shards of milk chocolate shooting out of the top of the cake. This cake raised $275 at the auction and I have probably over the last two years made over a 100 of them for other people for all occassions. It is a great way to advertise. My theory is once people see your work and try your product hey will pick you over a grocery store any day! Good luck!!
