I am making a wedding cake next weekend and was wondering how you all do such nice even swags. I will go and purchase the little gadget that Michaels has if I have to but I was wondering if there was any special secret on how to easily divide the cake and get the even?

thanks

I use the rim of a glass to make swag marks...you can see through it and press it ever so lightly into the icing to mark it. There are probably 2 or 3 sizes of glasses in everyone's cupboards, so you can find the shape you like the best......and it's free!

If the last swag doesn't quite fit, I let it overlap and make it part of the "design"...see here:

Wow, Antonia74!! That is a great tip! I have never made the swags before so I didn't want to buy the gadget that makes them. But you are right. I have a few different sizes of glass in the cupboard. I can't wait to try this out now!!! Great, great ide!!! Thank you so much! BTW- beautiful cake!!

Antonia, you are such a brilliant person icon_biggrin.gif I would never have thought of that and I will give it a try next weekend with my cake. I will of course post pictures as this is my first wedding cake icon_eek.gif I am really not too nervous as the design is simple yet elegant and I did a practice design the other day and it came out great.

Thank you once again for your wonderful tip thumbs_up.gif
