...let alone the decorating! I always thought I was pretty good at baking but now that there are other people than my family--just neighbors--getting cakes (I gave them my class cakes), I am feeling self-conscious. I guess we are our own worst critics, as many have said here. I am doctoring alot of the mixes and using some new ones. I made cookies and biscotti for all of my neighbors at Christmas and just put several of each kind in a small, cute Christmas bag. No one ever called to say thanks or if they were good. My parents enjoyed them but of course mom is always kind about it even if I am not happy with the recipe although I have no doubt dad would be upfront! I made a cake awhile back to experiment with and the icing was too sweet. He said the cake is good but the icing tastes like **** even though he ate the whole thing.

I took my last class cake over to one of my neighbor's last night. She said it looked really nice, I did a good job and said something about a business (ha! I wish) in the future. Anyway, I said the class icing is really sweet (I hate it but I didn't say that) but the cake should be okay. She said. "Should be?" I thought to myself, you dope, why did you say that? I meant it should be tasty but it came out like "it's edible".

My daughter's first birthday is next week, the party is Saturday and I feel like all of my neighbors are going to be talking about my cakes that I gave them. One cake went over well, he ate half of it before bed and some for breakfast so that's okay. One of the other neighbors is nice but also the kind to put her two cents in on things and can be the pushy, busy body type so she doesn't sugar coat things.

I'm rambling, ugh!

I'm thinking like you I'm so tired of testing my cakes they all taste the same. So I don't try them any more I just finished my class 3 cake and gave it to the bank staff and they put on there front counter to show I hope they ate it I'm just getting ready to ask a friend of mine if the cake was good. I figure if I was nice enough to give them a cake that cost $155. than I should get a response.
