I just got the sports ball 3d pan, and when I tried putting the two halves together the bottom one cracked in two places. I couldn't even use it. Why would this happen, and how do you avoid this? Any tips would be appreciated.

What kind of cake mix did you use??? You should use a dense mix like pound cake. Also you should slice a little off the bottom half so you can sit it on a cake board. More than likely...your cake may have been too soft/moist. Hope this helps you some.
