After working so hard to get my color flow pieces for my final cake in course 2 just right, they are destroyed. icon_cry.gificon_mad.gif My 3 year old son found where I had them hidden icon_eek.gif and started licking and eating them. After crying for about ten minutes icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I decided if anyone can help me it is all of you. thumbs_up.gif My problem is that my final class is at 9AM tomorrow and I won't be able to make anymore until my husband gets home from work at about midnight. If I did make more is there any possible way that they could get dry in time. Is there ANYTHING that I could do???

TIA,
Chrissy icon_cry.gificon_sad.gificon_cry.gificon_sad.gif

I sometimes dry royal icing flowers in a warm (lowest temp.) oven overnight (I use parchment instead of waxed paper for this!and it works for me, I'm sure someone else will have a better idea for you.

Don't make them any thicker than necessary and try putting them under a low fan (make sure the paper is taped down) speed the drying.

Remember, it is just cake- no one gets a beating for not having color flow pieces on their cake. And, you might want to find a better hiding place. icon_smile.gif

I thought I had them hid pretty well. I hid them last Saturday and he just now found them. My son should be a detective or work with a K9 unit. I have never seen a child that has the ability to hunt down and find everything that you don't want them to like he can. The only things it seems he can't find are his things that he misplaces. This child is going to have me in a padded room before it's over with.

I feel your pain Cat,my son is 3 now, but he was a terror until he turned 2 and a half! We even had to screw together the baseboard covers because he was trying to take them apart. We have some Anderson windoes with the screens on the inside and he was popping those out, so they had to be screwed in too. It gets better!

God works in mysterious ways. My instructor just called and tomorrows class has been put off until next week.

Hey... sounds like your little detective just might be psychic too!! lol icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif He knew it would be ok to finally hunt those things down since a little 'birdie' told him you'd have enough time to make more & his little bloodhound nose had been smelling them all week long! lol icon_lol.gif

I have 6 and 3 1/2 yr old boys...I can completely empathize with you! I can't hide anything in my house anymore because they always find it. Now, if I need something to not be found, I hide it either in the freezer or at my MIL's house! icon_rolleyes.gificon_razz.gif

It doesn't even work for us to put stuff in the freezer.
when I got home from my cake class last Sat. DH told me that our son had got some whole fish (some that DH had caught on a recent fishing trip) out of the freezer. Then, he had filled the tub up with water and put the fish in and said that he had "put them back in the pond".

At least he knew where the fish went! This too shall pass then he will become a teen ager and fun will really start then, I know because I have three teen age sons.
Take care!

Atleast he filled the tub up instead of putting it in the toilet bowl icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Boy do I know how you feel Cat!! My 3 yr old dtr did the EXACT SAME thing with my course 2 color flow pieces. They were hidden where I thought she couldn't see them for about a week & then 2 days before class I find her in my pantry with a stool so she could reach the shelf they were on & all of my butterfly pieces were gone!!
And then my dh says "It's just a cake... relax!"

I was so close to a meltdown!!! I can laugh about it now & thankfully it was just for class (and my friend had an extra butterfly that she let me have so my cake was fully complete anyways.
