The Bakery that made the cake was Little Venice and here is a link to their site. The cake is on the right hand side of the screen. I absolutely loved that cake, the colors and the design.

WOW! Those cakes are amazing! The chocolate work was beautiful on them, and the helter skelter cakes are gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing that link. The cakes are beautiful. Did you guys check out their servings sizes? 6, 8 & 10" round cakes serve 150?? How are these cakes cut? Could it be that European cake servings are smaller?
Thanks for your help. I saw the cake on the website but it wasn't real clear. I love it too ... the colors area great.

If the cake is the traditional wedding fruitcake, then the serves are definitely a lot smaller - usually a one inch square that is served with coffee.
If the cake is chocolate and served as dessert, the serving is still probably smaller than a US serving. On a recent trip to the States my husband and I shared a single main meal between us every night - not because we are cheap, but because the servings were so large! Even after walking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back up again, there was no way we could eat all that food.

You know Cris we found that with a cake decorator from the UK who came here to teach our class. We took she and her husband to dinner one evening and they were appalled at the size of the servings because no one could finish them and she saw all this food being wasted. I have a small appetitie and would be happy if they would let me order from the childrens menu. I am always bringing home leftovers in a doggie bag.
Basically I go by baking 911 chart and if you look it says 1" serving is roughly the same but personally for a lovely homemade chocolate cake 6" I would say 8 servings max my cakes are all 4" high....I would hate to make a 62 cake for someone and tell them it can serve 20" forget it. fruit or not! But certainly restaurant portions here are not like in the States.....
Is that why are always battling with our weight on this side of the earth???
Seriously, that is very interesting how their servings are way smaller than ours.
