My DH purhcased a Kitchenaid Artisan for me right before Christmas. I used it to make my Christmas cookies, and maybe 5 or six cakes and icings since then. While mixing up the icing for my last cake, the paddle just stopped paddling! The motor was running, but it wasn't turning.

I called the store where I bought it, explaining I didn't buy the extended warranty on the machine and was wondering what the factory warranty was on my machine (I had since thrown out the box and couldn't locate the paperwork that came with it). The salesperson was of no help. He told me I could come in and buy the extended warranty now and they would honor it. Well, I didn't want to do that if I was still covered under factory warranty.

I went online to the Kitchenaid site and logged in to talk to a Kitchenaid rep. A SUPER nice guy named Brian logged on and asked my problem. I explained everything. He asked for serial number and model numbers of my mixer. He said they would send a new one out imediately, at NO COST to me!

Just load up my broken mixer in the box the new one comes in and send it back by UPS in 7-10 days. There would be a packing slip enclosed. This was on Monday. I got my mixer on Wednesday. Talk about being happy!

I just wanted to praise this company for their excellent customer service. I just hope I have better luck with this one. LOL

Wow, that's great, sometimes other companies tell you tough luck and leave it at that...lol.....sad,but true. I am actually in the market to buy a kitchen aid, because my little hand held is wearing not just me out, but itself, it barely makes it through my frosting. hhehehe.
I was just wondering if anyone prefers one type of kitchen aid over the other for cakes. i know there is the artisan, there is also the pro 500 and the pro 600. Does anyone have any suggestions??????? I'm still terrified of spending so much money on one, but it's an investment piece, right!!!!
Any input would be of help!!!!!!! Thanks icon_razz.gificon_confused.gificon_confused.gif

I've had mine two years. I got it at kohl's and spent almost 300 on it. {great sale at the time} I would say it's well worth the money and if you can for small batches of icing cakes etc. I would get the kitchen aid hand held it's fabulous!

My Pro model came with one year parts and labor through Sam's and I was happy to pay $40 for an extra 3 years. Thank God I've had nothing but luck with mine.

I know sometimes people think extended warranties aren't worth it, and they aren't much, but something like this is worth it. It's covered in the first repair. I think you got lucky that they did this. But sometimes, luck is all a person needs. thumbs_up.gif

I've had my KA handheld for about 7-8 years and love it. I've had my KA 300 Watt stand mixer for about 5 years. I have had problems with neither one. When you find a good brand, you tend to stick with it. I'm glad to hear that they have a great customer service!!

Yes, Kitchen Aid is the BEST company! I would die without my Kitchen Aid - and when it started making a funny noise while making royal icing, we called Kitchen Aid (always deal with them directly) and they sent a new one right out! And because my Kitchen Aid was more than a year old, they didn't have that exact model (a 6 qt. Professional 525) so they sent a 575!!!! I love Kitchen Aid!!!

I have a kitchenaid and it's great. GREAT!!!!!! I know this week Kohl's has Kitchenaids on sale. That's where I got mine a few years ago. No problems out of it. I have a bravetti handheld mixer and it's works great as well. I don't think I would buy any other brand stand mixer though. My kitchenaid has held up through a hundred pound cakes and that batter is super thick. Go for the kitcheaid.

It just dawned on me, going through the packaging they sent with my new KA. They sent NO return packing slip for me to send my old one back with! It just came in the kitchenaid box, no outer wrapping, nothing! Does this mean I get to keep it? icon_evil.gif My DH is pretty handy, he could possibly fix it. If nothing else, I would have an extra bowl, whisk, paddle and dough hook! icon_biggrin.gif

I also had problems with my KA mixer. I bought it just before Christmas 2003 and just after the Holidays, the motor starting making a "knocking" noise. Without hesitation, the lady told me to return in via UPS after listening to the knocking over the phone. I got my new one soon after as well. Fabulous service.

I bought mine online through Linens 'n' Things. I thought about calling them first, but then realized it was a manufacturing problem. Good thing. Some stores are less than enthusiatic about dealing with these types of problems, especially such large purchases icon_smile.gif

Glad your problem was quickly resolved! Happy Baking !

crisseyann, I also had this problem and it was addressed that quickly as well. No problem, no hassle.

As far as the slip, look inside the little plastic cover on the mailing sticker to you. I think that's were mine was. But either way, someone will be there to pickit up in a few days. If you can't find one, call Kitchenaid, they tell you what to do.

I have been using kitchen aid products most of my life, from my Grandmothers mixers, to a hand held to a food processon, and their kitchen gadgets and cookware. It's always been a good brand, reliable, strong, if something happens, they fix the problem.

The P500 or 600, dosen't truly matter in terms of One is better over the other. What matters is what will best fit your life. That is why they make different models.

Funny this should come up as I want to invest in a KA stand mixer, however wondering if I should go for the top model (that will have to be on layaway for a while) or would the mid-range powered models work just as well for cakes, frostings (especially royal and colorflow which make my hand held very hot) and every-day use.
