i'm making a chocolate cake for a teacher's bday cake, and i know that you can substitute milk for water...but i was wondering...can i sub. chocolate milk for the plain milk to give it a more chocolaty taste...i know it's a stupid ?? but i don't know, and i'm sure someone here in the family will know. TIA again...Jen
Did you seriously think you could go wrong with MORE chocolate??? LOL Go for it and let us know how it works for you.
well...the cake is in the oven as we speak...i will let you all know how it turns out. can't wait to taste the "dome" off of the top...the batter tasted really good just hope it tastes as good when it's done
I always make chocolate milk to add when I make a chocolate cake! You will not be disappointed!!!
Yep, chocolate milk works just fine. When I do make box mixes I also add a healthy squeeze of chocolate syrup to it as well. It's all good!
Do you just replace the amount of water called for in a box mix with the chocolate milk? This sounds like a great idea!
Thanks,
Heather
cake is out...leveled and cooling completely. i tasted to top that came off and it was delicish...thanks to everyone for your quick responses to this ?? you guys are great.
Buttermilk is also a good sub for water in chocolate cake.
I hadn't tried the chocolate milk personally, but have heard of it before.
finished decorating the cake, but i couldn't figure out how to attach it here so i stuck it in the gallery. let me know what i could have done to make this better. i'm pretty pleased with the way it came out, although it's not the box of roses cake that i origionally wanted to do. (i didn't think i could fit 24 rose stems on the cake) i hope she likes it. i'll find out this afternoon when i pick up my dd from school. thanks again to everyone who answered my questions...
It looks awesome, I envy your roses! Great color too. I have see the "boxes of roses" done before and the stems were on the cake as well, sometimes a little tag (like the ones that some with flower deliveries) is attached with the writing on that. Sometimes it's rice paper and sometimes it's fondant or gumpaste, doesn't matter! Great job!
It looks wonderful, great job with the roses. Also, thanks for the idea of putting chocolate milk in the cake, I can't wait to try it.
