If you have a free site can you tell me the company you use and if you like them... I need to rebuild a website since I stopped taking orders and cancelled my Yahoo account which I was paying for. I just want a site where I can share my work with other decorators.

Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

I've been using webshots. You can only upload 5 pictures in a 24 hour period and there is a limit on how many you can have in total(not sure on how many though).
It's pretty easy to use and you can create different folders for types of cakes or cookies, etc

I use www.freewebs.com You can check out my site to see what you get. I think it is pretty easy to use and would work really well for what you want to do. You can set up regular pages or pages that are basically photo albums.

I have a freewebs site for my wedding. It's very easy to use and navigate. I recommend it.

WOW your work is amazing! Your mother really passed on a good gene in the decorating field thumbs_up.gif

Im finishing course 1 Wilton class and I have soooo many questions.
But I'll just as you a few icon_wink.gif Where do you get the ideas from? For example the Just kicking back birthday cake you made (with the guy in the hamock). How amazing is that? Do you free hand draw the palm trees and the guy along with the writting? Im just awe struck by your wonderful work. I also love your jungle aninal cupcakes. I attempted cupcakes last Monday icon_eek.gif . Nothing like yours haha to say the least.

Wonderful work hun!

Kiddiekakes, just wondering if you paid the fee not to have the ads because when I click on you address it goes right to your page, but when I click on Euphoriabakery's address it takes me to ads that I have to click off of before viewing each of her pages.

Ok now I've just seen that christyb has no ad on top of her page either, but kiddiekakes does, but euphoriabakery has an ad first before the page comes up. Can you guys explain that to me?

I have been thinking of posting my cakes on a site. I had no idea this could be done for free! Wow...I can't wait to set mine up!

Thanks Tami for starting this forum.

Freewebs is a good one.. I could only load so many pics (havent counted) on the site.. So I just added another page (using another account) to add 2006 creations.. Check it out! It's lots of fun!
For those of you using freewebs, how do you add the counter? I've tried and tried.. I cannot load it.. Also how can I add my own picture to the welcome page??? TIA

I would love to know this as well, I hate that add that pops up when you go to my site! How did you get rid of it?

Nearly all internet service providers provide a bit of space to host a small site as part of your subscription. In most cases, it would be plenty to share some pix. Check with your provider.

For the ad I am assuming you could choose in your set up area whether you wanted a pop up ad or a banner ad. I had a free site before and that was a choice. I like the banner of course better. The pop up would come up in every page and even backing up to home would pop it again. Just a thought. I don't know for sure since I have not used this one. Cox does give you a certain amount of space free also Tami.

I recently signed up with Freewebs as well and I like it. Very easy to use. As far as the banner/pop-ups go I have no clue. I just input my pictures and data and that was it. I don't think I have either when I access my site but I thought that was just it was 'mine' if that makes sense....

For the counter I just followed the instructions on the site manager page. You can also talk to a live person via chat. I have used that a few times and they were really good.

Unfortunately I have maxed out my file limit so I don't know how to add anything else to it, all part of the learning curve I guess. Kinda fun to do though, never thought I'd have my own website! icon_lol.gif

I love your home page. I just recently started building a website on freewebs and I didn't know you could build a page like that. Did you start with the blank template?

Thank you!

I did use a blank template that they have and this one had the cake in the corner. The background cakes are what appear on my card that I give to friends so I have it as a .gif and uploaded that as the background. When you are editing your home page at the top there is an option for 'Backgrund Image' and that's where you can upload it.

I'd like to change the photo of the cake to something else however I can't seem to get that part to work properly. So, for now, the stock photo stays!

PeacockPlace - I don't know about the ad thing.....I don't remember it asking me anything about ads. Now once you get so far down on a page, there is a couple of ads and I assume that is how freewebs get their funding, but I don't remember having to choose about whether or not to have ads posted on my home page. Sorry, I am not much help there.

briansbaker.....the way you add a counter is that you have to create one first with the "Site Add-ons" and then you can add it to your page with a "new Paragraph." And the picture to my home page, when you are making a new paragraph, there is a little button that has a tree on it for images to be added and that is how I did mine. That is what I do for all of my pics instead of the "album" pages.

HTH, ladies!!!

I've been playing around with setting up a site on freewebs too, lately.
However, I can't figure out how to change the font style of the main heading?
Anyone know how?
By the way, you all have great sites!!
