Just dropped off an order for a Baby Shower and they mentioned that they would be needing a cake for the Baby Naming Ceremony. I'm wondering if anyone can give me some ideas so that way I can look like I know what they are talking about
Would I do a book cake? or just a "regular" baby cake? I've never been to a Baby Naming so could someone educate me?!?!

I am not sure what that is either, I was intrigued so I had to do a web hit and this is what I came up with.

I think that a cake for this event is contigent on what kind of event it would be. Ceremonial or fun... I think I would need more input from the parents.

The baby naming one I know of is a Jewish ritual. It is, from what I understand the girl equivalent of a boys circumcision ceremony. My suggestion is do you know if the couple is Jewish, if so you could incorporate traditional symbols of their faith...just a thought

I agree with the above poster. To me, a baby naming ceremony is a welcoming ceremony for a Jewish baby girl. If you know her name, I'd just make it beautiful (flowers, or whatever else you like) and write "Welcome Name!" (unless the couple specifically asks you for some religious symbols.

Thanks everyone. I'll just didn't want there to be a specific cake (like a cross for a baptism) and I totally miss the boat.

A lot of people have a baby naming ceremony instead of a christening / baptism - at home,in a nice park etc .So I guess you could do a cake like a christening cake but w/out the religious connotations.
