Does anyone have a good raspberry marbled cake recipe? I have tried adding seedless raspberry jam to some of my white cake batter and then marbling it in with the white cake. I also marbled some of the raspberry jam in with the cake. The flavor doesn't seem to be strong enough. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Julie

Hi julie

i have done a white raspberry swirl mud cake for a wedding, it was my own recipe through trial and error..

what i used was just a normal white mud cake recipe then took out about 1/2 a cup of the batter and added about 1/2 a cup of raspberry puree' mixed this together then added some raspberry food dye to get a nice color...

here's the thing i learned about swirling or marbling, use a tablespoon to do it. just add the colored batter and gently swirl it with the spoon...

also if what you are adding is heavier than the batter it will sink to the bottom, i learned this the hard way...

i have a picture of the inside of the cake if you want to see it...

cheers

Thanks for the help Kylie & Sunflowerfreak. Kylie, when you pureed your raspberries, did it get rid of the seeds? This sounds like the kind of cake I'm looking for. I have been trying to duplicate a cake that someone in my home town used to make, but doesn't share recipes even though she's not decorating anymore. The lady I made the first cake for liked it and thought it was close, but felt it didn't have a strong enough raspberry flavor. She also mentioned maybe trying some Watkins raspberry extract.

Sunflowerfreak, your recipe sounds good too. I will have to try that one sometime also. It sounds very refreshing.
Thanks again!

i didn't actually puree' them myself, but i think you could. in Australia i can buy raspberry puree' in a foil packet at the supermarket its called "aunt betty's pure raspberry dessert sauce. it does still have the seeds in it and i think this added to the flavour of the cake...

here is a pic, sorry it a bit blurry my little one put finger prints on the camera lense which i didn't notice until i had put the picture on the computer..
