Unfortunately that is the way Sugarcraft is. Personally I will never buy anything from them. Here is a thread where someone else had the same thing happen to them.

Sorry it happened to you.

SavannahJane
what brand fondant was it?? The taste will vary incredibly from brand to brand. I have tried two American fondants, one being Wilton (exactly like biting into a wax candle) and FondX from caljava, which is absolutely beautiful and i just adore it!!

If you're going to be making the fondant specifically to make roses, then i would suggest that you make them with gumpaste. It's much better for roses and any type of flowers, You can get much thinner petals, and it has a much more elastic consitency.

No one really eats gumpaste flowers, i can't say that i've ever tried one, they're too pretty to eat ; )

PS: Never tried MMF either, so can't judge on that one ; )

Gumpaste flowers will dry hard, so you really wouldn't eat them. I haven't tried the Pettinice fondant, but you may be able to add some extract to it to enhance the flavor a bit. I'm a MMF fan myself. There was a question about how much fondant to use on a cake last night, give me a sec and I'll pull it up for you.

This link will lead you to what Wilton suggests for amounts of fondant to use per cake. Just have a little extra on hand, just in case.
