Hello Everyone: I have a question for anyone that has an airbrush. Do you clean it after each use of the colors. I have tried to get information off of the web but have not found any. Thank you everyone. New to this. Vicki0052. icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

I bubble it into a fresh glass of water between colors and then use the airbrush cleaner before I put it away.

I just bought an airbrush tonight (using the Hobby Lobby 40% coupon). I didn't get the compressor....will do that tomorrow or the next day, as you can only use the coupon on one item per day. Anyway....Reading the brochure that came with the brush, I see that these things can handle all sorts of stuff...acrylics, lacquers, etc. I read a post somewhere on here where one of the decorators uses Everclear as a medium to spray on luster dust. Since there's no question about it being food safe, that's what I'm planning to use to clean mine. I figure a little Everclear won't hurt a thing.

Just plain water is enough to clean out food coloring. I would hesitate to use Everclear. Could it take the finish off??

I dunno - but if you alternate running the Everclear through the airbrush - with taking sips - you might not care if the finish comes off.

Not that I would know firsthand, or anything.....

Hi: Americolor has an airbrush cleaner. I would only use that for cleaning the airbrush. Also, the cake airbrush is not used for paints and such. Just colors used for foods. I just needed to know if you clean the brush with every different color. I see the answer is yes. Thank you all. Vicki0052

You don't necessarily need to clean after every color...if you use complimentary colors from light to dark. You can do things like go from yellow to orange to black with no cleaning. Green to blue to purple usually works OK too. I always rinse well for red so it is really pure.
