Any of you guys know how to estimate how much fondant would be needed to cover certain size cakes?

I'm doing a 3 tiered wedding cake in March for a friend and am debating whether or not to buy Fondx or just make MMF myself. But if I buy the Fondx, I'll have to go ahead and order as I can't get it around here, which means I'll have to make sure I order enough.

Cakes will be 16", 12", and 8" and app. 4 1/2" high.

It seems as though Wilton may have a guide for fondant inside the yearbooks. It would be in the fondant section. I think if you order the Fondx...I would probably order some extra just in case. You never know when you might have an unexpected disaster!!!! icon_smile.gif

Thanks y'all. I didn't even know Wilton made a chart...shows you how "behind the times" I am.

Hmmm...it looks like MMF would be quite a bit cheaper than the Fondx; though it would sure be nice to have stuff already ready in the bucket.
