I am new to this whole cake decorating thing but absolutely loving it. My co-workers...AKA guinea pigs....are loving it too. Our small town has no Michael's or other store for cake decorating lessons, so I am learning what I know from all of you. THANK YOU. This Saturday I have to make a New York Yankees birthday cake. Anyone have suggestions?

If you could get some plastic Yankee players, you could make a baseball field cake. There are some cute ones posted in the gallery.

You could also make a Yankees baseball hat. I found some instructions here http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/special/cake/cake_baseball/ and also http://www.parents.com/articles/family_time/5309.jsp?page=2 which includes cupcake baseballs.

If you have a ball pan, you could make a baseball and then put names of some of the players on the ball.

IF YOU MAKE A ROUND CAKE YOU COULD GO WITH THE ROUND NY YANKEE EMBLEM (THE ONE WITH THE BAT AND THE UNCLE SAM HAT). IF THE CAKE IS SQUARE YOU COULD GO WITH THE INTERLOCKING NY EMBLEM. IF YOU GO THE NEW YORK YANKEES WEB SITE YOU WILL SEE EXAMPLES OF BOTH EMBLEMS. THE INTERLOCKING NY IS VERY EASY. I HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE ON ICE CREAM CAKES. THE OTHER ONE IS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT. The cake needs to feed about 80 people. Instead of making a huge cake, I thought I would make a 1/2 sheet and a bunch of cupcakes with the tops painted decorated like baseballs for the kids.
