I've heard a couple of you mention the Cake Mix Dr book. I was given a $25 gift certificate at Christmas for an online book store, they list the book at $21.00 - do you think the book is worth that much?
I just got the book a week ago, and it is great. I made the choc. covered cherry cake yesterday for my brothers birthday, and everyone loved it This is a great investment for cake bakers
What about the Chocolate and Cupcakes books from the Cake Mix Doctor? Are they worth getting? You can by all 3 books at Amazon for $30.80 and they qualify for free super saver shipping.
I think the book is worth it. However, you can go to a bookstore such as Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc and they will have it for $14.95 plus tax.
That's ok
I had to check her location twice just to make sure when I first saw the price she listed
There are several listed on eBay as a usual thing, but I haven't gotten one yet because I was not sure about the prices. Sorry I keep sounding like an eBay commercial, I just think it is an amazing source for so many things.
So $14.95 is a pretty good price, US that is? Janice
Yes, that is the list price on the back of the book for US dollars. (I don't have the book with me at work to tell you the list price for Canadian dollars.)
I've been wanting one, my teacher said at the very beginning that I should! Guess I'll go book shopping! Thanks! Janice
Wow, I like that price a lot, but I checked at my Sam's a few days ago and they didn't have it, maybe I'll keep checking on it, or maybe even ask them to order it, that might work. Everybody likes their books so much don't guess it would ever show up a 1/2 price books!!! Thanks for the heads up! Janice
Hey, I just bought a new hardcover edition on eBay for $11.70 total! They have a lot of them, so if you want one, do a search for cake mix doctor, then go to the area toward the bottom that says Matching Items, this was a Buy It Now from All-One-Needs, aka Amazon books. They had one of Collettes books for $17 something, and I would have gotten
one if they combined shipping, but they don't! Janice

Ooooh a hardcover edition! I'm jealous. I paid $15 for a softcover. It was being sold as part of a school fundraiser. Congrats on getting your book!
I own the softcover and usually have to put something on it to keep it open. I do plan on taking it into Office Depot and having them put it into a binder format, make it a ring-bound book instead.
Lisa, a school fund-raiser is a worthwhile project, so the money was well spent!
Mouse, I like the idea of a ring-binder for the book, sure would make it easier to handle!
I'm glad to finally get this book! Janice
Till now I didn't know that the cake book dr exited. But I'm very interested to go through it. Perhaps I'll check with the library first. Do you know who wrote it?
Her name is Anne something, had a memory lapse, but you can go to www.cakemixdoctor.com and see about that book and her others, plus you can sign up for a monthly email newsletter that includes new ideas, recipes, etc. (mine just came in my email today.) Janice

I also want to get the Chocolate Cake Mix Doctor and the Cupcake Cake Mix Doctor books
Thanks for your replies I think I will use my gift card for it. Sorry I forgot to mention Cdn dollars lol - quite a difference I know! Right now the exchange is $1.23 to buy american - I'm going to Disney with my daughter in 10 days, so it's fresh in my memory!
I got my Cake Mix Dr. book in Jan. It has so many cake batter stains, it's sticky & even has cocoa powder on a few pgs!! I USE IT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!! I love it!! If anyone baked cakes the old fashion way will be surprise at Anne's way! I used to make the humming bird cake my Mamaw's way. It has about 15 or more ingredients in it. Anne's version on has about 6!!!!! WOO that's so much easier & tastes the same if not better!
So do invest in the book!! You'll be so happy you did!!
Mouse.. was it you that said you made the cherry cake? I can't remember who it was. Will you let me know how it tasted & how you liked it? Thanks~
LOL--my book is stained too but only on two pages...the ones with the recipe for ripe banana loaves. I've made them two years in a row now for everyone at my DH's work (Christmas). I make mini-loaves adding a cup of coarsly chopped walnuts to the batter and few whole ones on top of each loaf. They sink most of the time but their really nice to bite into. I also drizzle the tops with white candy melts. Makes 'em real pretty all tied up in a cellophane bag. When Christmas starts closing in, they start asking if I'm going to make them. I made close to 100 last year.
Is the cherry cake the one you make that doesn't have to have oil added to it?
TC, and Lisa,
I was the one that made the Cherry Cake. It was the Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake. I didn't get any of it as I made it for my brothers birthday, but he and the others that ate it said that it was really good. And was gone in no time. This is the recipe that uses no oil.

Thanks Cake77...it's good to know is turned out so good. I'll have to try it too.
I just ordered the "Cake Mix Doctor" book. I'm excited to get it and try some new recipes! My neighbors are going to enjoy my practicing, I think, since mostly they'll be getting the cakes! It received great reviews on Amazon. I also ordered Colette Peter's book, "Colette's Cakes" with the intro on cake decorating section. I want to get the "Cakes to Dream On" with the Master lessons, too, but that has to wait..
Blessings,
~AngelWendy
