So, this morning I'm feeling like making a cake. I look around, supplies are a little sparse, but I spy a white cake mix. I was hoping for something more tasty than that! Then I had an idea, as I sipped on a cup of my favorite chai... why not add chai instead of water... hmmm....
I made enough chai to substitute in for the water qty and let it cool off a bit. Added it in, and baked as usual. OMG- it was delightful!!! It was very similar to a spice cake, but a much lighter taste. I was in heaven!

<<For those not familiar with chai, it is a black tea with added spices, usually cinnamon, nutmeg, etc, and then milk or cream is added. To me it tastes a lot like a flavored hot chocolate. You can buy it as a powdered mix, or as tea bags that you brew and add your own milk. You can drink it hot or cold.>>

That sounds yummy. I did some experimenting myself today. I made what I call a toasted almond cake. It is my favorite alcohol drink. I made a white cake, used pudding, milk, kahluah and ameretto. not sure what it tastes like with frosting by the scraps were really good.

Both sound really good. I bet the toasted almond would be good with whipped cream rather than bc.

I used the whimsical bakehouse recipie. So the frosting is really light and airy like whipped cream and I made sure it had more almond flavor then vanilla. It looked yummy....

Hey. Both sound yummy to me. Cakeconfections, did you use all the regular ingredients for the cake and then add the others? I think that I'd like to try that one. Could you PM me the recipe in case I can't find this thread when I get home from work? Thanks!!

That sounded just so great.
Would like to try that some time.
Chai I have never heard of, but I will try to find it.
I love the taste of spices. I also use a small amount of cinnamon to my choclatecake.
