Please tell me that this will soften! I made chocolate buttercream (crusting) last night and did the crumb coat on a chocolate 4 layer. Stuck it in the fridge. This morning, it is so hard that you can drum on it. Honestly, I think it will stop bullets. This is for cake class tonight and I don't have time to make a new one before. I noticed the frosting has a different feel than the usual bcf. I used melted semi-sweet chocolate for it. Half butter, half shortening, vanilla, organic chocolate flavor and a little milk. It's the first chocolate frosting I have made. Does it sound right?

It should be OK. Just let it come to room temp.

You are right! By the time I left for work it was fine. I should have known better than to panic. Thanks.
