What do you do with these? Does it project a picture onto your cake and you trace it? Does anybody have any experience with these?

I have one and that is exactly how they work. You can print any image off the web and resize it down to fit the projector box...roughly a 4x6 card and then you turn it on and either trace with the piping bag or I use a toothpick and then fill in later.I find it very easy and versatile since I can't freehand.I have the Kopykake 300 XK and it was about $199.00

Where did you get it? It seems like a worthwhile investment. You wouldn't believe the work I go through to get an image onto a cake. I create my own stencils after resizing pictures with a wall projector. I'm going to look it up on line and see if I can find it.

Many distributers sell the Kopykake brand..I think Sugarcraft.com
Winbeckler.com
Kopykake.com

just to name a few...the prices are about the same but shipping may vary.

I found one for sale on eBay... it was used but in very good condition.... I think I paid about $75 for it ... I really like mine; however, I don't always get to use it as much as I'd like to.

Caixa!

I'm so happy for you. You should get it a few days! Thanks for the website. It answered a question I had: Do you have to be in the dark to use it? It does suggest "dimly lit". Please keep this thread and tell me as soon as you try it!

Hi!

Artcity.com is where I got mine...however I have the KopyRite...I thought this was a better purchase because I can load any picture or book against it and it comes up perfect.

Yes, you have to have to work in a relatively dark room to accurately get the photo on your cake to trace. Just envision an overhead projector and that's exactly what you are working with. I have made several cakes with my projector including the one attached:

I highly recommend it!!

Hi Peggy, Thank you for you input. I think, in my case, the KopyRite isn't worth paying that much more money for. If I wanted an image from a book, I think I'd just trace it first then put the tracing into the KopyKake.

I read that people trace using piping gel. Isn't that clear? How does that work? I also read that others usa an art brush with food coloring. Is that our regular icing colors we get by Wilton?
