Has anyeone ever torted a doll cake, did it work well?? becasue i am making one for my little neice and i was going to make a strawberry cake with strawberry glaze in between the layers...Do u think it would work if i used the glaze instead of BC before i put the fondant on it???...and with the doll cakes, i am confused...do u put the fondant on the skirt first and then stick the doll through for do u stick the doll in and then put the fondant around it?? alot of questions i kno lol.....thanx a bunch <3
I torted the pink doll cake in my pics, it worked fine except that I cut out flower shapes to inlay different colors and cut into the filling.
You may find it easier to cover the cake, cover the doll pick, then insert it into the cake. The line that is left over can be covered by a ribbon, or small ribbon of fondant.
Do you mean use glaze to ice the cake instead of buttercream? It doesn't really matter (everyone does something different under fondant), just as long as you can get the fondant to stick to the cake.
ok thanx a lot...but im not using a doll pick im going to use a real barbie, i cant find any pretty doll picks so im going ot wrap the bottom of the barbie and put her in the cake lol <3
Hi there I always torte my doll cakes all have three layers of buttercream inside..
When using a barbie doll do you dress with fondant first and have your barbie already dressed with her bodice..then push into cake then you can bring the dress and top together.....with you smoother or like I did in my photos made a mistake there was abit of a gap so did extra swags and roses...Have a look ..maybe it might help you
