Hi,
Just want to get some advice on what to charge. This is a quarter sheet cake no filling. The grocery stores charge about $13. I was paid $15. Not even sure I broke even when you add up ingredients. Just wonder what is a fair price? I would love any advice. The picture is the golf cake in photos. Thanks for your help.

I think you undercharged a great deal.Even grocery stores add on like $8 for a "kit" as they call it.I would have charged maybe $30-35.I just started decorating but I don't see you making much of a profit having to add all the little golf extra's that you put on.The cake is really nice and I love the little groundhog in the corner.{That is a groundhog right?}You put a lot more time and effort into your cake, it's worth the price. icon_smile.gif

Here you can find what I charge. It works for me. It's competitive with the grocery store. Many cake decorators will say I undercharge; but I want people to give me a chance; so I'm reasonable. I live in Massachusetts, if economy matters.

Mara,

You really undercharged, your cake is the bomb. I would charge $35.00-40.00 for that cake.

Your cake is awesome. I would of definately charged more. Like $25-$30. You know what I have been doing and so far so good. I add up all my materials including cardboards, plastic decorations, dowls, etc.. and of course all the ingredients used in the cake and times it by 3. You have to remember to really charge accordingly because after all you are using your talent and time. And well time is precious, especially if it takes you away from family.

Good luck and great job!
