Well, after weeks of reading these forums for tips and ideas, and asking lots of questions, the Belle cake for my daughter's Beauty and the Beast birthday party is finally finished.
It's only my third decorated cake (the other 2 were character cakes decorated with the star tip - her 1st and 2nd birthdays, LOL) so I know my decorating skills need to be practiced, but I think the overall look came out cute.
Thanks for all the help! Here she is....
I think you did a great job! It looks beautiful and I'm sure your daughter will be thrilled!
your daughter doesn't care that this is your third decorated cake ... Mom made her a cake that she can be proud of and in her eyes I'm sure it's the most beautiful impressive cake ever .... you did a great job!
Looks great! I love that you put her on a petal shaped cake instead of just a round one! Very impressive all around!
Keep it up!

You did a wonderful job and you even went the extra mile to make matching cookies!!
I think that you daughter's friend will be envious!
Excellent job!!
Oh she's just beautiful! Fantastic Job! I love her bright Yellow dress......Just stunning!
You did a great job I love the color. Keep up the great work. Your daughter will love it
Thanks for your kind comments, everyone. I had my share of issues with her, but I got so many great tips here that helped me not have a total disaster on my hands.
The Viva towel method of smoothing, the instructions on putting another cake under the wonder mold when using a full size barbie doll, the instructions on stacking cakes and using dowels, where to pipe the border, covering a cake board with wrapping paper and contact paper...the list goes on. I couldn't have done it without you!
WOW!!!
All of the detail in her dress! She looks beautiful. I bet your daughters eyes lit up when she saw her!
Great job, I too can't believe it only your third cake!
Can't wait to see more of your work
Gorgeous work! You should be very proud, I am certain your daughter will love it! Any little girl would!
Great job! The dress looks beautiful, and the petal pan matches perfectly underneath!
Very nice job!! Did you do the carving for the indentations on the bottom cake or did you use a special pan for that?

I used the 12" petal pan by Wilton. I bought it off ebay since all I could find in the store was a set of 4 petal pans. Oh my gosh, even with crumb coat I had enough trouble with crumbs. I can't imagine the crumbs I would have had if I had tried to carve those indentations myself!
Thanks for all the compliments!
Fantastic!! I'm glad my 4yo daughter is in bed, if she saw this I'd be asking for directions, because I know she'd want this! It's obvious that a LOT of love went into this cake. That's one lucky little girl!
Very nice cake. Your three year old will love it. I would love to see her face when she sees it. Adorable!
