how can u tell when your dump cake is ready
the cake is really mushy should the cake firm up
are u suppose to cut or spoon the cake out the bunt pan?
It's probably the bundt pan--sheet pans do best. What do the sizes look like? Give another 5-10 minutes. May still be mushy just from the depth of the bundt pan but should be cooked enough.
Probably won't, due to the pie filling. My recipe calls for cake mix, pie filling and melted butter. The sides can get knid of hard if baked too long. Did you mix all together or just dump it in?
No, you just leave it in the pan and scoop it out to serve. Make lots of these--they are wonderful for unexpected company.
whoo boy! I've made it seems like hundreds of these to feed hungry HS play cast members and show how to do a demo speech.
(one year the volleyball ladies beat off the soccer guys to get the last cake of the day!)
done when:
it smells right (with practice you'll just know --- and so did the whole school - a runnin' they'd come)
and top looks nicely golden brown with a "crusty" look and feel.
(chocolate ones much harder to tell)
fresh from oven, will be soft and H O T -- that filling will burn you!
let sit at least 10 minutes to firm up and cool a bit.
then serve ala mode if possible!
some variations I do (mix/filling)
French vanilla/apple
French vanilla/cherry
chocolate/cherry
spice/apple
French vanilla/peach
chocolate/blueberry
chocolate/strawberry
banana/strawberry
ok the cake is pretty good, next time i will use a 9x13 pan i plan on making this and taking it to work tomorrow
Hi Jax,
Not a stupid question at all. Here is a recipe most people use, including myself. So easy and very good. This was posted by gilson6 in the recipe files.
