What about a cake that looks like a pocket protector?
Or glasses that have tape on them?

http://adam.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?AID=71386 has a cake for a geek-hopefully you can get to it. It is a computer-there is also a site on google for geek wedding cake toppers that might give you an idea or two!

what kind of cake is it? b-day, etc.

could even do a full person...taped glasses, pocket protector w/ blue, black, red pens and a pencil, pants that are high-waters w/ white socks of course and holding graph paper pad w/ the message

I like your idea Doug! If not a full body...maybe use one of the male character pans, Superman, etc. as a starting point. Sounds like a fun cake! Janice

ok...

change pad to laptop

add empty pizza box at feet

give eyes a slightly glazed/crossed look...

beard stubble, messy hair

and add a least one tech-toy like a PDA or a flash drive on a lanyard around the neck.

Try this on for size::

Line 10 Happy Birthday!
Line 20 How do you entertain a computer geek for hours?
Line 30 GOTO Line 10

(This is ancient programming text, BASIC language.) Any self respecting computer geek will know this immediately, and oddly enough, will think it's funny. LOL
