Is it possible to bake a cake in a large bowl? I'm not sure of the exact sizes, but I'm making a pretty big cake. I'm just wondering if it's going to bake evenly or if it will be a complete disaster to even try it.

I've only made one in the small size bowl, one that you would use for one of those doll cakes.

I appreciate any input or advice.

I would definitely try to rig something up so that you have metal poles in the middle of the large bowl. If you don't have something to conduct heat to the center of the batter it may never cook even with the outer edges. Another way to make a large dome is to bake round cakes, stack them and carve a dome. I did this in a smaller scale, but it should work for you too. If you look on my website under Advances Cakes there is a picture of the dome cake I did. It is orange with a rose on top. Let me know how it goes

Wow! Your work is impressive! Are those marzipan fruits?

Thanks for your advice. I am actually baking in a smaller bowl than I anticipated, so I think it should work ok, as I am using a heating core also.

I'm not quite sure if I could be able to carve a cake and have it look nice, although that sounds like a better way to make sure the cake is cooked properly.

Thanks again.

Do you have a heating core from any of the 3D pans? You could use that inside the bowl to help it cook all the way through. I'm not sure if those can be purchased separately or not.
