Look at what I did with cake balls. I call them cake pops because I put lollipop sticks in them and they are bite size. I did them for a little birthday gathering. The guest was a teacher and she took the leftovers to her elementary class for Valentine's Day.

I would have never known about cake balls if I hadn't seen them here! Thanks CC.

The how tos are on this site. They are quiet easy and make good use of cake left overs. They were such a hit I think I will make a cake in the future just for cake pops. I let them sit overnight in the refrig so they would be firm enough to stay on the stick. These were made from a french vanilla cake. It is a perfect size so you can have one and not feel too guilty.

Thanks all for the comments

Linda-what a wonderful idea!!! I've been trying to think of some other way of packaging these little things so they're a little more 'showy' than just a ball of chocolate stuff in a paper liner thingy...lol icon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gif I can totally see these wrapped in cellophane and stuck into some styrofoam that's in a pot or cup or something! GREAT IDEA!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!!! thumbs_up.gificon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

JennT,
Thanks for your comments. I have grown to appreciate your opinion. This idea was fun. It is almost worth baking a cake only to tear it up and make balls! Tinting the cake balls would be fun for a child's birthday or maybe rolling them in colored sugar or sprinkles. I am wondering how much we would charge for such a treat?

Comments anyone??

Alamosweets,

Those are too cute! Great idea! thumbs_up.gif Sorry I can't help you on pricing. I've only made them for people at work just for fun.

Trent,

Yes, you need to add the liquid so they will stick together. I used Bailey's Irish Cream on mine. They were really good!

I only used sweetened condensed milk and they stayed together great and was firm enough to stay on the stick.
