We had this discussion in my Wilton class a couple years ago and the answers were kind of funny. Thought I'd ask here! So, who among us eat their frosting mistakes? lol icon_lol.gif

you mean frosting only, or do you mean the iced cake that didn't turn out right?

There's no such thing as mistakes when it comes to baking - just opportunities to impress a different audience.

I absolutely love cake and frosting!!!

my confession...sometimes I'm actually secretly wishing for mistakes so I could nibble (or GOBBLE) something up!

Not any more though...been on the South beach diet cos I really need to get back in shape...it's been hard though!!! Still struggling being around fantastic looking and smelling baked goods everyday!!!

Totally guilty icon_cry.gif ! But I am working on that! When I mess up I get really frustrated...that makes me want to eat! Now, it feels like a waste, but usually I just have to throw it all out right away.

I have to admit I don't each much cake anymore. I ate so much of it when I began decaorating cakes I had to stop. That is why I am now on a diet.... Why is it that at 20,30 I had no problem losing weight but now in my 40's it just doesn't want to leave me? I could decorate cakes 24 hours a day but eating it now, I just cant. icon_cry.gif

I never do but is only because I work with the stuff all the time and can't stand eating it as well. If I feel for cake I usually send DH out to the local bakery to get me some.

BUT I have a DH and 2 daughters who stand around waiting for me to mess up someting just so that they can dig into it.

I always eat my mistakes! just last night, i messed up a cake, and long story short, now there's a 10 inch cake and lots of cupcakes that i get to eat! to save myself at least some of the calories, i did send the cupcakes to work with DH.

I send them to work with my hubby. They may be "mistakes" to me, but his co-workers love them! They frequently ask him, "Is she planning on screwing up another one soon? Please?" It gets me orders, too!

My problem is I make them just for fun. I rarely have a reason to, so they are just there. I love cake that hasn't been frosted yet. Just plain old cake. I start out wanting to decorate for practice, but end up eating it before I get it done. icon_sad.gif
I made some WASC cupcakes and I ate every single one of them. It took me two days, but the whole batch was gone. My dh ate like two and the rest went into me. Right now I'm working on a WASC cookie recipe. I haven't figured it out yet, but my mistakes are very very yummy.

Ironically, everyone I meet says the same thing "I could never do cakes, to be around all that sugar all the time, it would be too tempting!" My answer "you would think" but that's not the case for me. I'm not a cake eater to begin with (never have been) and I think buttercream just smells too sweet. I did have one student, however, who couldn't master the rose and took to eating her mistakes...icon_confused.gif I told her that she would be making a LOT more mistakes and she may want to reconsider eating them...icon_rolleyes.gif

oooh oooh ooh - WASC cookies sound awesome!! Would you be willing to share the recipe? Although I know you are doing all the hard work of figuring it out so I understand if you want to keep it as a "secret recipe". icon_smile.gif

If I can figure it out, I'll be happy to share. The last two batches I made came out too cakey. Yummy, but cakey none the less.

Guilty...warm cake...omg!! You know what amazes me...cake balls...if I were to try to make them I would have to make cake to make there out of!! I even love the little crispy parts that you trim off of cakes!! There is always a zip lock of scraps lying around my house!! My kids and DH are just about as bad too!!

I eat my mistakes, but I also love to eat some of every cake i sell. How so? Well, I deliberately don't use baking strips so I can have a dome to cut. Then I cut off the top and spread the same filling and icing I use for the cake. I always want to have an idea as to how it tastes. Hmmm, maybe that's why my butt's so big! icon_biggrin.gif
