Well, I tried my first FBCT. It went really well til I tried to put it on the cake! LOL I made it late last night, put it in the freezer, and then tried to apply it this afternoon. I used the recipe:

1/2 c butter
1/2 c crisco
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c confectionary sugar

I colored the icing, but used "wiltons" black icing for the outline. well, the black completely stuck, and I couldn't peel the wax paper off without taking half the design with it!!!! I ended up doing the Logo freehand, but I would like to know what I did wrong for future reference......anyone have any tips????

When I have had them stick it was because I made the transfer too thin and it would thaw before I could peel off the paper.

Not sure why the black stuck. icon_sad.gif

Don't know if you did this or not, but I spread the transfer with a layer of bc all over and let it freeze over top of the transfer, that seems to help a lot and it has always just peeled right off of the wax papericon_smile.gif

Ok....so I need to make the transfer a little thicker, and make sure I spread BC on the back and smooth it out before I freeze it. GOT IT. I'll try another one using these tips!

Thanks Ladies!

Something I see wrong with the recipe...that is the exact recipe I use, except mine has 4 cups icing sugar, not 2. Could it be the icing is too soft?

Your using the same recipe I use. I got it from Squirrelly Cakes. The only thing I do is put a very thin layer of crisco on the wax paper before I do the fbct and it comes off perfect everytime. I can't remember what post I got that from. She explains it thorougly & it works like a charm.
