I am making a cake for tomorrow and I am planning on putting royal icing daisy's on a buttercream cake. Someone said that the buttercream will break down my flowers and cause them to crumble. I made the daisy's last weekend so they are good and dry will they be fine or should I rethink my cake? icon_rolleyes.gif Any help on this will be GREATLY appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Cakecentral!

I have put royal icing flowers on BC icing up to 24 hours in advance, with no problems whatsoever.

HTH!

I have used royal icing flowers on buttercream and it works fine! I think it would take several days before the royal would start to get soft, from what I understand. I have only had one in my presence for 24 hours, with no signs of breakdown!

Go for it. Over time the fat from the buttercream could break down the royal icing, but if it is for tomorrow, you should be good to go!

I've done this very thing several times with no trouble at all.

Daisies are my favorite!
