Help! I have been asked to do a cake for a friends husband and he loves the casinos, but she doesn't want any fondant on the cake at all.....anyone have any ideas that you could share with me?
How about a black jack table (cut out cake)? Or a stack of casino chips--a couple 6" rounds stacked, edges scored, top decorated to look like a chip. You could even offset the layers just a little bit.
Oh, I like the idea about a blackjack table....didn't even occurr to me, but then I 've never even been in a casino. I'm wondering how hard it would be to make royal icing playing cards to place on the table??
Ill keep the pan idea in mind but I think I'm leaning towards the blackjack table idea with the colorflow cards. Thank you all for your ideas.....I'm feeling less stress about this cake now!
When you put the cards on the table, be sure to give the "dealer" a Blackjack, since that is what they always have, or at least "21"! Well, no, on second thought, the birthday person should have the blackjack!
The foil candies would be great as chips, particularly if you can get different colored ones that would indicate their value as the casinos do.
This is perfect timing for me as well. I have a retirement cake to do next month for my office and the retiree loves to play poker. I found these on the internet:
Obviously the one on the bottom is not a cake, just a poker table, but it gives me a good idea of what to do.
Those are all really great ideas. I was discussing the cake today and come to find out the guys favorite casino game is black jack so I think I am going to attempt to make the black jack table. I've never done anything like this before, but I guess I have to start somewhere. LOL It's not for a couple weeks but when I get it done, I'll be sure and let you all see it.
I'm new to all of this, and I too, have a vegas enthusiast with a b-day next week. The wilton slot machine pans are going too high on e-bay, so I've decided to duplicate the welcome to las vegas sign. I haven't the slightest idea how to go about it! Can anyone tell me which is the best way for a beginner: fondant, gel or buttercream transfer, or a much simpler, faster way I haven't considered? The cakes posted here are amazing, any help will be appreciated!!
