Hi,
I just recently purchased the Wilton Gumpaste Flower Cutter set/book. In a craft store a while back another customer told me that she just added something (can't remember what) to Wilton fondant and used that with the directions in the book.
What do you all use to make your "Gumpaste"-like flowers? Also, any tips you have would be great. There isn't a class in my area until the end of October.
Thanks,
Amy
Wilton has a powdered gumpaste mix that is just add water. It works pretty well. I use ready made gumpaste from Satinice. You can find it in a 5lb tub at www.cakedeco.com (Pfeil and Holing). The Satinice fondant is very good too. The only bad thing about this site is that you have to order at least 50.00 worth of stuff, which is not hard because they have a lot of good stuff. They also have beautiful ready made gumpaste flowers, which I use because they are so time consuming to make.
Hope this helps some,
Stephanie
HI,
I'm taking Wilton's Course III class and we are making roses out of fondant. To prepare the fondant we add 1 teaspoon of Gum-Tex(TM) for every 12 oz. of fondant, then add color. All I know is that the Gum-Tex(TM) makes it easier to work with. I don't know if Wilton sells this. I just got a couple teaspoons in my student kit that I bought. Hope this helps.
AMY
Thanks to everyone for the responses!
Caligrl -- that was it exactly!! I am going to buy the Gum-Tex(TM) this weekend!
Thanks again,
Amy
