I am setting up some guidelines for wedding prices and I want to charge for additional flavors but I am not sure what is a normal fee. Would anyone be willing to share what they charge for additional flavors. (I'm talking about having differents flavors for each tier of a wedding cake.)

I don't charge for different flavors but I know some that do ONLY if it is something like Italian Cream, Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, etc. Something that tends to require additional ingredients or work to make. I actually haven't had too many requests for much but the basic flavors (chocolate, white, yellow, etc) The specialty flavors have only been for family or friends and i didn't charge.

I will definitely start charging more for carrot cakes. Not only do they require more ingredients and work but they are a bear to ice too.

I think the amount I have head is like $5-$10 per layer. I think you end up with more left over batter if you are having to do 2 or 3 or 4 flavors, rather than one.

Thanks TexasSugar that is exactly what I was looking for. I had originally thought $10 but now I am thinking $5 would be more in line with pricing in my area. Anyone else charge for this?

I charge an additional $20 per flavor if my customer wants a different flavor per tier. This is b/c my requested flavors have been almond and ultimate butter and we all know that butter and almond paste is not cheap.

The only things I charge extra for is carrot. Otherwise I charge extra for chocolate ganache frosting and any filling other than buttercream.

I have my basic cake flavors that come with my $3.25 per person wedding cake charge. They can have any basic flavor for free & can have a different flavor for each tier. I also offer delux flavors for $.30 per person more.

I usually do not charge extra for flavors unless it is a more expensive cake to make. I do charge extra for fruit and other fillings besides icing. However, I do see your point and think it is not a bad idea to charge more for that. icon_smile.gif

I have a set price per serving I charge $1.75. Then I list thing that are included in this price. I have a chart to go by for additional charges, which does include using more than one flavor. The additional charges range from .25 to .75 a serving.
