Thanks to all the information and sharing I found here, I tackled my first ever fondant and gumpaste today and posted pix in my photo file. I used frosting and filling recipes found on CakeCentral.com. Thank you all so much! Before today, I had made just one cake in about ten years or so - my daughter's wedding cake. I am so happy with this one. I am so appreciative of the tips about using shortening on hands and rolling surface for the MMF...oh, and using the heavy vinyl from Walmart. That's a major help! I stopped and took pix before I was finished because I liked the "almost finished" version. I'd be interested in hearing which version others like.
Miss Crimsicle,
I believe that you have done a wonderful job, The cake is beautiful and the roses are adorable. I just love it!!!!!
Hi Crimsicle,
I can´t believe that the cake was your first attemp with fondant. It looks really good. I like both "variations", so I really can´t say witch I like better.
WELCOME BACK TO THE CAKE WORLD!! You did a truly beautiful job!! I hope you stick with it-you have alot to offer us!!
Thanks so much, everyone, for all your generous comments and encouragement.
Yes, I'm delighted to be back in decorating. But, I am one of those people who goes overboard with everything. I spent a BUNDLE at Hobby Lobby this week!
I'm new in this town and don't know a soul...and am unemployed. So, I'm bored. I just sit around thinking about cakes! My daughter's boyfriend doesn't know it yet, but he's going to be taking lots of goodies to work for a while.
