I can't express my thankfullness to all of you for your continued support through this.

Guess what, I didn't get to see the cake all together stacked until I did it at the place. icon_surprised.gif

And some good did come out of this, the bride and groom were happy and that's what counts, right?

The coordinator wanted to see my portfolio and was showing it to everyone that was there helping to decorate the place. I have two interested brides to be consultations...each wedding is in the summer, wish me luck.

I told you what you put out there comes back to you! I know you will get those two bookings.

And, I should have known that anyone with such a kind and caring heart would not mind sharing a thread, thanks.

Stephanie,

I couldn't find just one that said it all! I am so excited for you and your two prospects for the summer. That is just the beginning. You better gear up and get ready! I am glad the people recognized your talents!

NewToDecorating:

I am glad you found CC. It is wonderful spot for support and we all need that right? I am anxious to see your pictures too!

I remember my first wedding cake. I left the topper at home all the way across town. I was a nervous wreck. It has become a little easier but I still get nervous. I guess we should... knowing how important the cake is. Good luck with your future baking!!!!

Just had this problem myself -- though not with a wedding cake, but got low-balled with the idea that there would be others there who would see the cake. Got guilted into doing the cakes because she's an acquaintance "friend". She even went to a bakery to tell me what they were charging was less than what I was. I will never make this mistake again! I did the cakes, but I didn't feel good about doing them. Not worth it! As for decorations, I agree about a couple of roses and a lace design -- elegant and not time consuming.

OK Traci....I'm in Houston too and will be doing my first wedding cake (with the exception of my class cake) on my own on April 29th also. BUT...I'll be in Mississippi making this cake (DH's brother)!

I do get to help with a wedding cake in a couple of weeks....at least I'll have some experience!

Stephanie and New to Decorating - Beautiful cakes!

WOW!!! Both of you did such wonderful jobs on your cakes!!! thumbs_up.gificon_wink.gifparty.gif I know both of you probably learned so much and all of it will come in handy on the NEXT wedding cakes ya'll do!! I've always turned down wedding cakes...just too intimidating to me...lol. icon_rolleyes.gificon_razz.gif I've done lots of favors for weddings, but never a cake...I think I just don't want to contend with those overly particular, sometimes finicky brides? Just seems like it takes all of the fun out of it...lol icon_lol.gif But maybe if I can do a small one like you guys have done then I can get over all of that! icon_rolleyes.gif

Beautiful cakes!! You both should be very proud of and pleased with your work!!! icon_biggrin.gif

ape,

That is too bad that you will be out of town for your wedding. It is still kind of funny that we are both in Houston and have a cake on that same day! What part of Houston are you in? I live in NW Houston.(Copperfield area)

Stephanie...who knows...after adding such a gorgeous cake to your portfolio...you could end up with another order really soon. icon_wink.gif

Thanks everyone for helping me with this project.

Sharone dropped my things off today and told me that a man was inquiring about who made the cake because it was good and he wanted to order one.

Unfortunately, she was hurt at the reception and had to go to the emergency room before she could give him the information but promises to get it to him. Thankfully she wasn't seriously hurt, the lighting from the ceiling fell on her head.

Well, I'm just about rested up and getting ready to start working on the Steelers football cake for this weekend.

Once again, thank you and have a good one thumbs_up.gif

Hi traci,

Thanks so much for asking, she is fine...just a headache and some pain in her neck; no major damage.

Just wanted to let everyone know that since I did this cake, I have a wedding cake for July (400 people) and two consultations coming up.

They always said that good things come to you ten fold when you give a helping hand.

Again, I can't express my thank you for all the wonderful support that was given.

Wish me luck on the two consultations.
