I finally got a cake order. I've been in the doldrums for about three weeks. I have yet again another US Navy retirement cake to do. I'm becoming quite the expert (not really) on these military cakes! They are the most boring cakes but from the feedback I get on them, everyone just loves them, not just taste but design/appearance. I wish there was something else I could do to jazz them up but still keep within regulations!!!

I looked at all of the military cakes in your photos, I couldn't think of what else you could do, of course I'm not very familiar with the military. However I love the one sides and borders you showed the close up of!! I also like the most recent one with the rope and those things in each corner, the ship steering thingys..(please forgive my ignorance!!) Anyway those are my favorite parts of those cakes so you should combine them. LOL i'm sure you appreciate me bossing you around!! Just giving you my opinion. I think these cakes are great and who more deserving than someone who is retiring from a position that we all owe so much too!!

OMGosh!!! icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gif You all are soooo nice!!!

I do like the ship's wheel on the last cake I did! I used two different sized round cookie cutters and an "!" from my Wilton fondant letter set to make that wheel.

You think I should do the rope again? I got some great compliments on that when I did it. This cake will only be a 12x18! HMMMM!!! icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif

SNICKER~ Bossing me around!!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Thanks you all!

All your cakes are beautiful. It's obvious why they keep requesting your military cakes. They are absolutely lovely. And I would say your an expert on the cakes. thumbs_up.gif

ok... a little off topic here. I noticed a couple of you saying you took a look at cakemommy's photos... how do you look at someone's collection of photos? (as opposed to the entire gallery?)

moptop...
just click on the small box that says photo. (At the end of their post..see the little boxes..profile..pm ..photos...www..etc.) Then you will see the person's gallery

Does that help?

Just to clarify....at the very bottom of each of our comments there are little boxes that say "profile", "pm". Some people also have "photos", "email", "www", etc...
It all depends on what you have set up in your profile and of course if you've posted pictures! Sorry to be so long winded....icon_smile.gif

You're so kind! Thank you so much. I don't know when the last time I made a buttercream rose was! I'm just itching to do one but they have no place on the military cakes that I've been asked to make. Phooey!!! icon_razz.gif
