I have been asked to make a 3D shark cake for a boy turning 8 next week. I found this cake and would like to give it a try. Any ideas how to go about the covering of the fondant. I would think that I would take a cake and fill and stack it then freeze and carve into the shark shape. I want to use MM fondant as I really like it, do you think it will work ok. I also thought that I would make the teeth out of royal icing instead of fondant.
Any input would be very helpful ,
Thanks
Shayla
Heres one on this site... but either way I do think that MMF would work for the shark. I think cutting a piece of cake off and using BC would work... I wish I could help more...I am sure you will get alot of that! heres the link for the one on here. maybe PMing the one who did it could help you!

Thats Carol's cake from The Cake Corner right? She is a really sweet person and always helpful, you could try emailing her. If I remember correctly she used a wooden board at an angle to make the top half of the shark.
Thanks KatieBug, yes the cake if from Cake corner and I have emailed but not heard anything back yet. I am going to make the cake either tomorrow or Wednesday and then carve and cover it on Saturday and Sunday, the party is later in the day so it gives me time to do last minute things.
Boy that thing almost looks too real (although I've never seen one in person), I believe I'd like the one in the CC photo for a little kid, not quite so scary! I'll be looking for the photo also. Janice

Carol's user name is cjf. She has a link to her site in her profile. I believe it's thecakecorner.com
