New Cake Decorating Show On Pbs

I just got an announcement from Wilton that says that their new show "Bake, Decorate, Celebrate" will be broadcasting on PBS. However, it is up to the local PBS stations to determine if they will carry it. For this reason, you should call or write (or email) your local station to request it. This could also be great for those of you on remote areas where classes are not easily available to you. Also, there is a website that goes along with the show http://www.bakedecoratecelebrate.com/
Here's how to get in touch with your local station:
** VISIT PBS ONLINE: Go to www.pbs.org, select Station Finder from the menu at the bottom of the home page then enter your zip code. When the list of stations appears, select your station then click on the stations email address to send your request. Or, paste this link in your browser: http://www.pbs.org/stationfinder/stationfinder_relocalize.html
Here is the letter I sent to my local station:

I am writing today to ask you to please consider carrying the program "Bake Decorate Celebrate" as I have heard that it is up to local stations to decide whether or not to carry the show. This program is sure to be one that homemakers like myself would love to see broadcast. There are programs out there for quilting, painting and home improvement, so why not have a show that teaches how to prepare themed party projects? With young kids at home, I am always looking for great ideas for their birthdays and other special occasions, so I would love to be able to see this show! Thanks for considering my request.
Sincerely,
my name and phone number

Thanks, that's great to know. There are no classes around here due to they can not find instructors. The only tools I have are the internet. Thanks again!
That sounds like a great show! Have you seen the shows on Food Network that feature holidays, weddings and other themed 'cake off' contests? It's so fun to watch!
spottydog,
The shows on the food network channel variety. Sugar Rush is one. The challenges are the most fun to watch, IMO. They are on every Sunday at 8/9 Central. The challenges are where the country's top cake/dessert decorators compete against each for $10,000. They have certain rules and restrictions and they have only 6 hours to do everything.
Yeah, the titles vary. For instance, last weekend it was the wedding cake contest. It's usually a special for an hour or two on a saturday night.
Thanks for sharing this.
I think they should make a channel specifically for pastry. Like the Food Network, but better!

Oh, No hn87519! If they did THAT, then between CC and the TV, I'd NEVER get anything done!
I sent a request to the 4 PBS stations that are in my area. You can find out on Feb 20 which stations will carry the show initially.
The show on Food Network is calle "Food Network Challenge". I was looking for "Challenge" and could never find it.
Same here I posted my request. The area that I am in I can post to two stations. Hope they pick it up! I have free TV which is limited but okay when they have decent shows on.
Thanks for the tip cakemaven! I sent in my request and hope they'll consider broadcasting on my local station. Sounds like a cool show.

I have a thread entitled "TIVO" something or the other in General with cake show listings on tv. I have to update this week, so I'll probably just do it online and post it tonight. Looking forward to all the shows.
I am so excited I just looked it up and it is starting on our station Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m. YEE HAW. I have a Pampered Chef Show to do that day at 11:00 so I will be taping it. It is on Kids Celebration Cakes.
YIPEEEE
Whoo Hoo!
I sent my request in, now if only they can play it when I'm home from work
Thank God for TiVo! I couldn't live without it! LOL
My local PBS station replied, they don't have it listed in their schedule listings but my request would be passed on to the higher ups.
PBS is about the only channel we get in the middle of nowhere

Get all your friends to email them too. The more people request it, the more likely they are to show it. It's all about power in numbers!
