I've never heard of pouring milk over it but I do know that if you cook it too long it will start getting dry. I always start out with the shortest time and check it and if it's not done, add a few minutes at a time until it is.

Look in the recipes for the Tres Leches cakes. That how that make that one with three different milks puored over the cake then put in the fridge. It's a mexican recipe.

Oohhhh I love the hot drink Dulce De Leche which is a mixture of caramalized milk and sugar - it's sooo yummy - I'll have to find a cake for the tres leches - I've heard of pastries called this, but no cakes - do you have a recipe?

I'm sorry I didn't even answer the question - I saw you replied to one of my posts about doctoring cake mixes and my reply also fits here. I use sour cream in all of my cakes - to me it adds a smooth creamy moist texture w/ few crumbs and I never have a cake turn out bad when I use it! Invest in the Cake Mix Doctor book - that's where I get all of my recipes and they give it that made from scratch taste other than "just a box mix" Try the red velvet - its toooo die for except instead of dumping a bottle of red food coloring in it just use the DUNCAN HINES RED VELVET w/ the sour cream -mmmmmmmmmmm I'm telling you it's 2 DIE FOR!

There several recipes on this site for the Tres Leches cakes. I haven't tried any yet. I want to though.

I always use milk in my dh mixes and cook them at 325 degrees. Once in a while, but no always, i will add a box of pudding. I always get super moist cakes.

I've seen recipes where you pour sweetened condensed milk over the cake (this was a chocolate cake) and let it soak in. I bet it's good but I was afraid of the cake being too moist so I didn't try it. Might experiment with it one day.

In the summer or if I am in the mood for a different cake I will poke some holes in a cake and pour jello over it. My favorite is lime. Then i will either frost it with cool whip or us whipped buttercream. It is yummy. About the only cake that I really like to eat.
