Im throwing two birthday parties on the same day. Feb. 25. One is Star Wars Im doing the Darth Vader Cake I have the pan. Im also doing lots of suckers I have the molds using candy meltes. The Im also doing a Pooh 1 party I have the pan with him holding 1. Im also doing a single for a smash cake, I have a treat pan doing rice crispies treats decorated, and some suckers I have the molds with candy melts. Heres the timeline Im thinking Im new to decorating want to allow plenty of time I have an almost 1 year old at home to. Well Im thinking about starting the chocolates on Monday the 20th. Finishing them Tuesday. Baking the cakes tuesday morning. Do a crumb coat on each Tuesday. Start decorating the Darth Vader one Tuesday night. Hopefully finish it Wedensday night. Start Rice Crispie Treats on Thursday. Start Decorating the Pooh 1 on Thursday Night hopefully finish Friday Night. And decorate the rice krispies treats on Sat. morning. Then party at lunch and party at Supper. Will this time line work. Or is getting Darth Vader done Wedenday Night to far in advance for a Saturday party. And how should I store it Im assuming in a rubbermaid container covered with the lid or alluminum foil?? And will the choclates be ok from Tuesday to Saturday and how should I store them?? I will store the rice krispie treats in the refrigerator. Any advice or suggestions Im new and what plenty of time. I want both sons happy with there parties.

Thanks,
Melanie

The chocolates will be fine even up to a month before... as far as your cakes, you could freeze them once youre done and pull them out several hours before the party.... they dont need all that covering.. just plan for little set backs, they always happen.. i'd start on anything that you can do now way in advance and then you'll only need to concentrate on the cakes.. you could even bake far in advance, crumb coat THEN decorate them closer to the date.

I know the chocolates should be fine because I made chocolates as favors for my wedding and I started them WAAYYY in advance and just kept them in a wax paper lined rubbermaid bin in my cellar. As far as making the Darth cake so far ahead I guess it would depend on the icing. If it is all shortening icing I would say it would be fine in a container in a cool dry place but you shouldn't have to refrigerate it. If it has butter in it I would keep it in the frig. Be careful though because if black icing is anything like purple, I have had purple icing start to turn blue when I keep it in the frig from condensation I guess.
HTH,
Heather
