Well, I will try to make it short. icon_eek.gificon_biggrin.gif

This cake to begin with was hard to make. The recipe is for a very dense cake and it makes it hard to tort and hard to soak in syrup. It doesn't absorb very well. However, it tastes really good. The people at the party thought it was a cheescake because the texture was very creamy and solid.

Anyway, when I was baking this cake, I baked it in a 12 x 3" round. It only rose to 2 inches so I had to bake two. icon_cry.gif With the small round the same, only rose to 2 inches, so had bake another one.

When I was baking the little one, my 2 year old ran into the wall corner and cut her forehead with the sharp end of it and I got really nervous. Made a lot of calls to her doctor and took her there to make sure she was okay and didn't need stiches. Luckly, she didn't, but needless to say I was a nervous reck!!! icon_cry.gif

Anyway, the next day I started to trim the cake, which was hard because I told you it was dense. Then when I was putting the top on, I put it on on the wrong end so the cake wasn't leveled right. I tried to disguise it with the icing. icon_confused.gif

Then the day before I called the customer and she told me that she didn't get the cake topper (but didn't call me to tell me, mind you) and I had to come up with an idea for the cake topper.

LASTLY, at the party, this HUGE wind came with water and we were at the park (I was invited to the party) and we had to run to our cars, cake and all and went to her house.

YIKES!!!!! Like I said on my title, WHAT A MESS!!!!

I used the front of the invitation card that had all the main characters of Shark Tale. I cut it up, cut a cardboard to fit to give it stability and then piped a royal icing blue border around it to make like a frame.

Then I attached with tape a dowel rod to stick it in the cake.

I had nothing else to work with and no time to make any royal icing character plates.
