Great roses! I took the courses in the fall, and I just figured roses out this month! You're well on your way!
Nice job on the roses! We only learned how to do the center part at our class. I sat down the other night and tried but gave up.
They are really good.
A little tip...add some piping gel or corn syrup to the buttercream and your edges won't be frayed.

Thanks! I really don't like the frayed edges and I have not been able to figure out how to get rid of them ............. been driving me so crazy I stopped making roses! I will try this soon.
I love this site too - something new every day.

great roses! Especially for FIRST Roses. Mine were horrible, I had to really practice to get mine to even look presentable. Now I finally have them down pat.
Enjoy the rest of the classes!
Alright, so I came home from my 1st class and read my course 1 book...
my Mother-In-Laws Birthday was today, so I got up early and decided to go for it, and make her a cake... ( gotta dive in sometime, and I need the practice )
well here is the finished product....
I have to practice getting the Icing Consistency down from Stiff to Thin...
seemed that it stayed stiff, even when I added piping gel and more water.
the leaves kept splitting in the middle, so that was agravating.
I was happy with my 1st roses.
Thanks for looking!

when my kids sang Happy Birthday, the cake disapeared.
I can't wait to see what 3 more classes bring.
Great Job. I think your roses are really good. I've been decorating for a couple years and I still think that roses are hard.
Nice job!! I just took my first class last week. #2 it tomorrow, and I love it!! You did a really great job.

Hi Robert,
Welcome to Cake Central...enjoy your soon to be addiction like the rest of us
You did a terrific job on your cake and roses
I've been decorating for a couple years now and still can't perfect the Wilton Rose
You did a great job~! and I love your roses! thanks for posting the pic of your cake~! it's so addicting!
Welcome to CC! Great job on your first set of roses.
A little tip on the leaves...you said they were splitting down the middle. That isn't uncommon with those tips (I actually prefer #352 for that very reason). Take a paring knife (or another very thin knife) and carefully pry the point of the tip #67 apart just slightly. The edges of those tips come too close together for the icing to not be separated, but that little trick will make all your leaves come out beautifully.
Keep up the good work!
Robert, again pipping gel for your leaves, if you add a 1/2 teaspoon of pipping gel to your thin icing it will help those leaves, this is in your course 1 book. Just incase I have the wrong amounts. I should just go look it up.
That is 1/2 teaspoon to 1 cup of thin icing. I did check. It really does help the points on the leaves.
Thank you so much,
Thanks for the boost of confidence!
Tomorrow is my 2nd class of course 1!
Last night was my 2nd night in course 1, We decorated the Ranbow cake So much fun.
We are doing Roses next week. So, our teacher instructed us to go ahead do do the base (the cone) and let it harden at least 2 to 3 days and bring the bases into class. She said its alot easier if you learn on the hard base? Just a FYI it may help you in your future rose making
You did a wonderful job thou! Im planning on getting the cheater stencles to make wording on my cake Freehanding is hard work
