Hi

I need some help please..
I have been asked to do a minnie mouse cake..but in the UK cant get the tims...I have managed to get hold of a mickey mouse tin which I am going to have to adapt.
My client wants the spotty dress and spotty shoese in the red and white witht eh matching bow...

My concern is I havent made one before..not sure how it will look...the little girl is very exact..so must look pretty identical to the real thing..thats my worry....

As I am in the UK we use fondant.....I am concerned I am not going to get the effect I need..plus trying to build up the fondant.....

Can you tell I am panicing on this one...

Anyone has any tips of pics of fondant minnie mouses I would be very gratful..

Thanks in advance Rach icon_cry.gif

Hi,

Could not find any pictures of a fondant Minnie cake. However, here are some good shots of her costume. I think if you will just start with red fondant and add white dots to it, you'll be fine. Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

Rach, don't panic! why don't you try using a rectangle cake, cover it in fondant and then decorate the minnie ontop using a buttercream or royal icing, it may be a lot easier than changing a mickey to a minnie mold.
Good luck!

I did Minnie Mouse using the character pan, but I didn't use fondant on it. It's in my photos. Of course, I adapted it and put a brownie girl scout vest on her (since it was for my scout troop). I'm not that good with fondant (since I just started working with it) so I'd tend more towards a FBCT myself. But that's just because that's what I do best.

Thanks. I used the character pan for that one, so it wasn't to hard. Just outlined it then filled it in. I'm not a fan of the star tip, so I just pipe it in then smoothed it with a small paint brush that I only use for cakes. Since it takes awhile to pipe it on and smooth it down, it was probably 2-3 hours just to frost the cake. I'm only just starting with fondant, and have not done a lot with it.

You'll do fine! Take a deap breath! Luckily she's a rather simple character with no strange or intricate details...just piece her together somehow! I know this picture isn't fondant, but it's of a wilton Minnie - I liked it because it shows how simple her clothes are.

If I see any others I'll let you know!

Also, I love this website: http://www.thecakestore.com/index.htm
Their store is in London, they have a fondant Mickey, so maybe you can draw some inspiration for the Minnie???
