Here is the shower cake I did for my sil this past weekend. I liked the top and bottom tier (thanks cali4dawn and your awesome storks!!) but it got late and I just could not think of anything to do with the center tier except the clouds-aahhhh!! What else could I have done??? This is a cake I'd like to make again one day but with a different middle tier. What do you guys think.....

The light makes it hard to see but the top says "special delivery" and the bottom says "Baby Angel" and "oh boy" between the storks beaks.

I probably would have put in some swags. Ones that were billowy like clouds. I also like the lettering that looks like swags on the 3rd tier. You can do that again with more baby words, like "diapers", "pacifier" "bottles" "sweet" Soft" "cuddly" you get the jist! The storks look great by the way!

That would have been cute. Even just writing the words at odd intervals around the tier might have worked!
Thanks for the compliment! Those storks took me forever. They weren't that hard just time consuming to keep them relatively straight and get them back to back so they could "hold" the words! Plus I had to wait until my little man went to bed before I could get started with the decorating!

I hear that! I have a four year old who is allergic to dairy and eggs and always wants to help, but she can't touch any of the things I make! I always work when she's in school or after bed. Makes oru decorating lives just that more challenging!

Hi dodibug,

Your cake is amazing thumbs_up.gif

How about doing some baby tee-shirts, booties, bibs, teddie bears etc. with the push molds in different colors.

Use the billowy clouds as swags and at each interval, put one of the above items.

Your cake looks great as is!!! But for a suggestion, maybe some simple baby rattles on the middle tier. I think that would look cute.

I was thinking the same thing.....Baby Rattles! Or Diaper pins....etc.

Although I think it's wonderful just the way it is!

First of all I just want to say that I love this cake...especially the storks. I think it looks great as is.
That being said if you wanted to do something different I thought maybe the middle tier would look good white like the top tier. Then maybe add the rattles, etc.

It is so funny that you said that! I had my drawing all planned out for the cake and the middle tier was white!! Then somehow I got distracted by something shiny and just slapped the blue icing on! icon_cry.gif

Thank you for the compliments guys! I was proud of this one. I have learned so much here from you guys that each cake gets better! My sil, her sister and mom (who threw the shower) were really happy with it and that's the most important thing! I told her she has to have a girl next time-that color blue was a pain in the rear to make.lol

I have the push molds with the baby stuff-they are so cute! I didn't think about that. I made little blue feet to put on each side of the stork bag on the topper. I wanted to try to make storks that were flying with their stork bags but it go late so I might practice those for next time. Cali4dawn has a great tutorial on ladycakes for the storks and she made a beautiful stork cake. I think I may have liked that middle a little better with bigger clouds!

Thanks again guys for the compliments and the ideas!
