The Cake Signature That No One Wants

When I was doing Wilton classes and taking a cake to each class, my signature developed. The day before class I had my cake ready and in the box all set to go. OK, great, go to bed, get up, and fine the top of the box smashed down into the cake. 
I turned my head to my calico cat, appropriately named Weasel, who just looked at me. Time and time again I ended up with cat butt imprints on my cakes. I don't think any of my cakes ever looked right. I eventually figured out that it's best to put my finished cakes in the not heated oven until it's time to box it and go. Luckily, this never happened to any of the cakes that were for actual people.
For whatever reasons, that cat either loves or hates cake boxes, it's hard to tell. She sleeps in one that's been folded up for her, but if she finds one that's unfolded, she pees on it. A love-hate thing, I guess.
That's funny! Cats are amazing creatures.

Don't know if this will work for you but my cats hate tinfoil, they hate the sound of it when you unroll it or tear it, mind you they do like tinfoil balls. I always put a few pieces of foil over the box with it hanging over the edges and they steer clear of it.
Kind of like that signature thing you have going though!

Yeah, she is NOT kidding! We started looking forward to seeing her cakes every week to see how bad the imprint was.
Hey Darci ~ you need to also share your disaster with the hot cake that David was supposed to bake for you.
When I discovered that my cats were sneaking on the counter at night and in my plant window (and chewing my orchids) I placed sticky mouse traps on my counter top and in my window at strategic locations. The next morning - two of my sticky traps were gone. It took months to find the sticky traps but the cats stayed out of the window and off the counter! About once a year I need to "remind" them. I'd like to have had a camera on that one!

Now THAT sounds like something worth trying! But definitely with a camera, LOL!
Cats hate double back tape and foil. When a cat is behaving badly, jumping on counters, peeing in plants, scratching screens, I always recommend these to try, also a squirt gun. You can't let them see you squirt them though because it becomes a game. It has to be--cat getting in trouble and wham from out of the blue water hits them in the ear! Clients love that one! Kind of gets the flustration out because they just won't listen (or simply don't care)
LOL... cats definately have their own personalities! My Mom used to put her burnt cookies out on the windowsill for the wild animal and the cats would SIT on them... I guess they liked the warmth! The raccoons on the otherhand, just wanted the cookies... 
Ha ha. Cats are something aren't they. My cat hates the sound of plastic bags--really scared of the sound. She's a fat cat, doesn't like jumping, so I put a toddler gate near the kitchen entrance to keep her out. She took a bite out of a gingerbread house I was making once.
Well my Dad had to come out of his office to see why I was laughing!! And we could see one of his cats doing just that if He and Mom didn't shut their cakes in a room !!
I always give my cat a tiny dollop of icing and she is stisfied with that and leaves my cakes alone.
I was given one of the automatic litter boxes a while back, but my cat (who is 15 years old), refused to use it. He got so "pissed off" he peed on my bed, once with me in it...I gave up then and gave him his old covered litter box back! I tell him all the time "If you weren't so pretty, you'd be outta here!" (He is persian/himalayan.)
Kitties definitely let you know what they like and what they don't like...mine doesn't like foil either but it was pretty difficult to sleep with it on my bed!

Heehee, I am just picturing trying to sleep with the tinfoil on the bed! That is too funny kiddo!
People must think we are weird when they come to visit. I have an old male of 16 years who is overweight and in the later stages of kidney failure but not suffering or at the point where he should be put down. But he has accidents and can no longer climb much so we had to put an additional litter box near the front door and one at another level, we have a split level home. He can no longer climb on chairs so I have these fleece childrens' reindeer and Santa blankets on the floor, cushionc etc for him to sleep on. Then I put foil on anything I don't want him or the 17 year old female to get at. She is still a terror and hates foil and oranges. So sometimes I surround things with a circle of oranges to keep her away. Heehee, people must wonder about our decorating taste, litter boxes, foil and oranges, nothing says home quite like those things, haha. If we have fresh flowers, I have to put a circle of oranges around them because the female likes to eat baby's breath and certain other flowers.
Oh well, the joy they give us is worth the weird decor!

u guys are funny!!! i have had cats over the years, my favorite cat would love to play with my other feets.. right know i have a minature schnauzer (something like that) that i love, his name is houston, and he is a trip!!!!!!!!
i also have to watch where i put my cakes. i have to make sure i do not placed the cake to close to lthe edge of the table or he will stand on his hind legs to get to the cakes..... gotta love our four legged friends
