proud great-uncle....bragging.
this is my niece doing her "second" decorating.....the first was a gingerbread house -- but i was up to elbows in icing and sis wasn't home to do pics.
so .... here she is making cookies trees for her daddy and her "grandma angel"
and yes, she did:
1) roll the dough
2) cut the cookies
3) bake the cookies (and didn't get burned!!!)
4) choose colors and placement (she was most insistent on the straight blue garland)
I was the "muscle" -- those bags are hard for a FOUR-year old to squeeze.
That is so cute and awesome! Way to be a "Great" uncle! She'll be helping you decorate cakes in no time!
I think you'll have some competition on your hands very soon! It won't take long for the student to overtake the master!
You must have the patience of a saint, by the way.
Wow! She did such a great job. How nice to have an uncle with so much patience to decorate with. Maybeyou will have an assisant soon.
Wow, Doug you have patience. She did a wonderful job. I bet you had just as much fun as she did. I know I do when I decorate with my youngest son.
Thank you, Doug, for bringing a smile to my face. After the week we have had it's nice to see a family doing just that...being a family. She did a wonderful job! Good for you Uncle Doug!
Now that's quality time! Things like that stick with kids - they remember it many years later. And who knows, we may be seeing her cakes on here soon.
Great work, Doug!! You should be very proud and what a great activity for a child!! My 2-yr-old and I made our first gingerbread house together this year. I was amazed at her "insistence" on almost every detail. She was most distressed that I didn't let her do the icing, but she had a ball making the gumdrop rock garden and shrubs. And she placed almost every M&M and gumdrop on the roof. I was beaming with pride by the time we were done.
I agree -- start 'em young!!!

hmmm....family always called it "bull-headed."
(to which I'd always respond: "And look who taught me!" then run like....)
and yes, she loves to cook with "Unka Doug"... she's already learned to do french toast (loves pushing the bread down in the goo) and pancakes.
cakes are next on the list.
