i got an order for a cookie bouquet and a valentines cake tonight!!!
the cool thing is that this is for an auction for an insurance association group....so i am so excited! the lady said that i could leave business cards. so, this will be like lots of advertisment....hoping it will be turn into lots of jobs.
i am also thinking about doing an extra cookie bouquet just to show what i can do.

Auctions are always a great source of advertisement. I donated 3 cakes to a motorcycle club (that I am not a member of) for a toys for tots run. At the end of the run they auctioned of a lot of different items and the proceeds went to Toys for Tots. Now I am known in the motorcycle world as "THE Biker's Baker". But I don't just bake for bikers....

cookielady1, how funny! to be known as the biker baker!!! i'd make sure you give them all cards, or fliers the next time they got together for their meetings. hopefully they will call you for orders.

i am known as the cookie lady in my area. but i'd like to be known as the wedding cake lady....that makes more money, haha eventually maybe i'll get that knickname.

Melodyscakes - I actually have received a great many order as a result of the auction. That's how I got the nickname. And my husband posts my cards and fliers, and of course "forgets" his pen everytime he signs anything. I have ball point pens with the bakery name, address, and telephone number on them.

We both ride, but don't belong to any of the clubs. We get to socialize with everyone, that way. And all of the clubs order cakes for different occassions, and individuals order cakes for their offices, family celebrations, etc. (most bikers around here are doctors, lawyers, police officers, the mayor, fire fighters, etc.)

i just talked to lady,....i dropped cake and cookies off yesterday and they loved them, went on and on about how beautiful. i called her today to see how the dessert auction went, and she said people loved them, the cake went for $135.00 and the cookies for $35.00. whoohooo!!!! she said she would call me if they ever needed any more cakes.
