Hi, I have an order for 100 cupcakes for next weekend for a baby shower(for a cousin). I have to drive them 1 1/2 hours away, and I am really nervous about getting them there! In the past I have tried the non slip liner in a cake box, but when we arrived they had bumped into one another and I had a lot of touch up work to do. Then the next time I frosted them at the site, which worked well. Only this time it's at a rented hall, and I can't get in early enough to do that. The frosting is just piped on swirls with edible glitter sprinkled on top, no flowers or anything complex, thank goodness! I've thought of cupcake tins to hold them, but how do you get them out of the tins without messing up the icing, and also I don't have that many tins! I have a van, so I have plenty of room. Help! Thanks! icon_lol.gif

Hi there and welcome to Cake Central!

When I have orders for cupcakes, I go to my cake supply store and buy the clear plastic (clam shell) containers with the hinged top. They hold 6 or 12 cupcakes and they only cost around $1 each.

They look so professional in there, and they hold the cupcake secure. If you have a cake supply store near by that's definitely the way to go. If you do not, maybe the bakery at the grocery store could sell them to you.

my walmart sells the clear clam shells at the bakery just ask them for them .also they are 1.00 each and since they are clear you probably hold onto to they are needed anymore after for your next trip. and you will only need 9 to transport 100

good luck

I put them in a sheet cake box, they sell them at Party City for about $4 Each box will hold anywhere from 50 -75 cupcakes depending on how they are decorated. The box is very sturdy and to keep the cupcakes from sliding inside the box I just put some kitchen towels in the bottom of the box and set the cupcakes on top.

Welcome to CC (I see your a newbie) icon_smile.gif

If you are going to be making more cupcakes in the future you can invest in cupcake holders. Plastic containers that holds a dozen cupcakes in 12 slots then the holder goes into a cake box. No bumping.

Just a thought.

As for the cupcake holders, the last time I looked at a Tupperware catalog, they had a 9X13 cake holder that you would flip over the bottom to reveal a cupcake holder. I'm sure Walmart or other store like it would carry something like that also.

I use these containers, purchased at the Safeway Bakery for 50 cents each. No need to worry about them bumping into each other and the lid is nice and high so that your icing doesn't get messed up from the lid icon_smile.gif Holds 12 cupcakes and is reusable. icon_wink.gif

What I do is put a sheet of styrofoam inside the box, poke rows of toothpicks into it, then slide the cupcakes onto each of the toothpicks. They don't move at all. I also do chocolate covered strawberries this same way.

I WANT THESE TOOOOOO!!!!
They are no where to be found in Australia... There must be an Aussie out there who knows.... Don't keep the secret to yourself.

I have found the ones similar to what Nati used in her pics but I want something less expensive so that they can be disposable and I can buy them as I need them.

I just had a order for 80 cupcakes and I use long shallow rubbermaid containers (the type that are supposed to be used for under bed storage). They each held 40 cupcakes. It worked great and the customer is going to return them on Monday.

But that does not stop the sliding around or tipping over issue especially if you are driving with them, ok if you are just moving them though.
