LOL! I had the same problem when I did a wedding cake with red roses!! (I hope I never have to use red again!!) The entire palms of my hands and fingers were pink for about 2 days. I tried everything I could find to get it off, but I only succeeded in gradually lightening the color. It finally wore off!! It was a little embarassing since I am a pre-school teacher's aide and stress the important of hand washing to my kids. They all kept telling me wash my hands because they were yucky and couldn't convinve them that I had! Wish I knew if there was something that would take it off quickly!!

If you don't want colored hands before you start rub some crisco on your hands. I have been doing that for a long time the other day in a decorating class the instructor also recommended the same thing.

You could just use some lates gloves when cleaning up as well. Less messy than having to clean up the Crisco off yoru hands.

Keep in mind, the shortening and icing(s) being washed down your sink drain can build up at some point helping to clog the drain (at the wrong time).

Always better to have maybe a tub of warm soapy water to clean things in that you can dump out back or anywhere else but down the drain(s).

No fooling! And they're so cheap at Sam's too... just be sure to get the non-powdered ones.

Before gloves, I found that Windex was pretty effective in removing the color from my hands. But then again, I always used it right away... not sure how well it would work hours later, or even overnight.

I clean up the kitchen with bleach water. You accomplish two tasks at once; a clean kitchen and the bleach gets rid of the color on your hands and nails.

I had a customer pick up a cake a couple weeks ago and I had pinkish red finger tips when I handed them the box... didn't have time to think of using bleach!!!

cakesondemand... I love your Pretty in Pink cake! It's soooo Beautiful! : )
