I have made 4 cakes this week alone. I have a cake in the oven now that has to be done by Monday. The first one I did was a Dallas Cowboys football helmet, was relatively easy to do,its not all that great but the birthday boy loved it. The second one I did was a doll cake for a little girl she wanted Barbie and she had to be pink and purple with flowers,it was so much fun to do,and the birthday girl gave me a hug and told me that it was the most beautifulness cake she had ever saw (she was a 3 year old) her hug meant more to me than anything, especially after her mother ripped me on the cost of the cake ( she only gave me 20 dollars) the price was discussed up front but she claims that is all she had to her name. (Yeah right) the third one was a Memphis Grizzlies type cake for my step son to take to his mom's ( I call it my nightmare cake) It was so god awful ugly that I refused to take a picture of it. But my step son who is 13 said it was cool, so I guess maybe it wasn't that bad. The fourth one was a Star Wars theme cake I like it the best and the person who bought it loved it and said that I definitely have their business. Plus I went to a country club this week and the lady there wants to put me on a list of her vendors I got a call this morning from a bride and she is coming by next week for a tasting. I have a cake in the oven now to get ready by Monday for a guy who is going to propose on Monday to his girlfriend. Plus I have 3 VAlentines cakes and a wedding on the 18th and a retirement party on the 16th. Then on the 23rd I am sailing on a cruise ship for 5 days.(Geez by then I will need several magaritas) When I get back from my cruise I will have 4 days to get ready to host a retirement party for my MIL. Sorry so long but with sleep deprivation I tend to ramble on. I got alot of my inspirations from several of you wonderful decorators.

Your cakes are beautiful. Lack of sleep or not you do good work. I don't know if I could follow you. I'm a stay home mom with a 3 yr old and two other children at school. For some reason I can't find the time to do two cakes at a time let alone 4 plus the others you need to work on before your trip.

I think your first margerita will be the best one you have ever tasted after the last few weeks of cake decorating. Have a great trip!

Again your cakes are beautiful.

Wow that was pretty low of that lady to rip you off right in front of her daughter to where there was no way you could take the cake back. icon_confused.gif

Oh well...sounds like you are super busy! Is this all by word of mouth or do you advertise? Congrats!

I get all my cake business from word of mouth kitagrl, and yes it was pretty low of her to "screw" me when she did. And she has since placed an order for a cake in March...I told her no money no cake..so she is a prepay.
Vie- Thank you for the compliment. People around me have always been amazed at my energy level..I am like the energizer bunny...I do most of my cakes at night because during the day I help my husband with his contracting business plus we are building a new home so I am always on the go.

Wow that's great!

When I lived in SC I had all word of mouth business but here seems like I get none. Most of mine are new customers or returns, but no referrals.

Wonder why....

Keep up the good work and the energy level. I used to go like that but I'm on full time oxygen now so sometimes my batteries run down! I'm not happy unless I'm doing something so I just have to know my limits now.

I made a sheet cake and topped it with a football cake for the Superbowl party tomorrow. Have both my football pans in the oven now with french bread in them to make big sandwiches for the party. Got the idea out of an old Wilton entertaining book. I hope they turn out. It said to use frozen french bread dough but I used my own recipe.

Sorry you had to make a Dallas Cowboy cake. I just keep hoping no one ever asks me for one. My son is a Cowboy fan and I often wonder if he is really mine. icon_surprised.gif I'm a Kansas City Chiefs fan so that's where the controversy comes in! Hope all you sports fans enjoy the Superbowl tomorrow. I just hate the fact that there's no more football until August! icon_cry.gif

Have a margarita for me and if you see Jimmy Buffet anywhere while you're having it, give him a big hug and kiss for me. thumbs_up.gif
